Degree Specialization In Emergency Management

Meet the growing demand for emergency management professionals.

In today’s world, replete with threats of terrorism, extreme weather, and manmade hazards, there’s a growing demand for emergency management professionals — including safety directors, emergency specialists, consultants, analysts, and first responders — who are prepared to handle a variety of situations.

As the first university program to offer FEMA Independent Study (IS) certification courses, the Emergency Management specialization provides you with a curriculum that focuses on mitigation, preparedness and technology, response and recovery, and integrated emergency management. You’ll emerge from this program knowing how to identify potential hazards and create and execute response plans, as well as how to minimize the impact of disasters.

Courses In This Specialization

This specialization consists of five lower-division online Emergency Management courses for a total of 15 credit hours.

Why You Should Consider an Undergraduate Specialization

When you earn your bachelor’s degree through CSU Global, you can customize your degree to meet your professional goals and personal interests. With just five additional, lower-division courses, you can earn a specialization along with your bachelor’s degree. Similar to a minor, or degree concentration, an undergraduate specialization lets you explore a second area of interest. Provide proof that you’re dedicated and invested in the career you want with additional skills in the field.

Third-Party Licensure & Certification Pathways

In addition to the comprehensive knowledge that you’ll earn through a degree specialization, industry certifications are an excellent way to demonstrate your proficiency in a specific area. CSU Global integrates FEMA courses into its Emergency Management and Homeland Security Specialization (as part of a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management).

When a student takes a CSU Global EMG course, they have the option to take three FEMA Independent Study (IS) courses as well. Upon the successful completion of the FEMA IS course final exam, you will be awarded a FEMA certificate. Additionally, you may apply the FEMA IS course toward FEMA’s Professional Development Series Certificate.
