Online Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Programs

Get Credit for Your Previous Studies and Life Experience

CSU Global’s Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program lets you demonstrate your knowledge in specific areas to earn college credit for what you already know. Whether you gained this knowledge through another educational program, independent study, or life experience, we want to give you credit for it.

The “non-resident” credits earned through the PLA program can be applied to your undergraduate degree at CSU Global after proving you’ve already acquired the targeted learning outcomes of a particular course.

Take advantage of PLAs to save 75% on CSU Global’s already low tuition rates!

How It Works

Start by reviewing the learning objectives for each course in your program of study. If you feel confident that you’ve already gained the skills outlined in the course, complete the PLA application and the following materials for consideration:

  • Portfolio of your work showcasing prior relevant experience and demonstrating mastery over the learning objectives of the course.
  • Professional resume
  • $150 for each portfolio submission

Eligibility And Transfers

To be eligible for the PLA program, students must have four years of related work experience. You must have also successfully completed three standard classes with CSU Global before becoming eligible for PLA credits.

Degree-seeking students can earn up to 30 PLA credits. The credits earned through PLA apply to the 90 total transfer credits accepted by CSU Global.

PLA credits may be accepted for transfer by other institutions, at their discretion. If you plan to transfer, check with your intended institution before you begin the PLA program.
